Eclosure: The Luna Moth Enamel Pin
Eclosure is the emergence of an adult insect from the pupal shell after metamorphosis. The luna moth in this design rises triumphant from its enclosed and protected state with wings unfurling, getting ready to fly for the first time. This beautiful hard enamel pin depicts a moment in the moth life cycle you may take as a symbol of self-fulfillment, coming-of-age, or a milestone in personal growth. On its own or alongside other insect pins, it will bring a glimpse of nature’s marvels to any collection.
This pin is based on the American Luna moth, Actias luna, a member of the Saturniidae or silk moth family. It is a well-known species among the largest found in North America. Eclosure is usually less triumphant, more wiggly and messy, but I think a little artistic license serves the art and symbolism.
Hard enamel pin with gold plating, double posts, and rubber clutches. Approximately 50mm wingspan at the widest. Comes on a backing card as shown.
